This week I finished reading the novel "Nada" by Carmen Laforet. Which was an absolutely amazing book. It is about a girl that moves to Barcelona post-civil war to study at the university. The girl, who's name is Andrea has to live with her very strange family, it's a story about her trials and tribulations in a year spent with them. It's such a good book, I don't want to tell anymore about it, you should just read it for yourself! I love books so much, sometimes more than people. You can read a book and make whatever feels right out of it. It's your mind you think anything about the story, the characters and the setting. You imagine it however you want. When I read, I feel connected to the characters, it's as if they are living for you in a book, doing things that you couldn't do or have yet to do, they give ideas and inspire.
Anywho, i'm done being inspired.
Since moving to Boston i've been taking public transportation. At certain times during the day it's very crowded people are in my personal bubble and invading my space. It's all a really lovely forced bonding experience with my fellow man. I use all my scenes when riding home with these people and have gotten some really great experiences out of all of this. So far on public transit i've seen old ladies blaring music into their headphones in attempts to seems "hip" [while bobbing their head waaayyyyy too much], various people who seems to carry full garbage bags with them everywhere they go, i've encountered people who stare way to much or men that stare at you until you look up and then they smile and it's like.. really just creepy in no way am I interested in your creepy attempt to get my attention, instead of initiating a conversation i'm preparing to initiate my self-dense plan. In the last week, I have been sat on by an EXTREMELY OBESE blind man, which in this case i'm not sure who was more traumatized by the situation. This man turned out to be crazy as well, talking to people about their days, even asking them what they would want for dinner if he was paying! He even began instructing passengers to move to the back of the bus and to give the driver their space, as if he was an actual employee of the MBTA! Yesterday I was encountered by another strange human, who was very small, not a midget just really awkwardly small... he sat in front of me on the bus and started telling me how he was so tired and needs to get up really early for work. Really.. I don't care. It turns out he thought I did! What a silly man, usually when someone makes an awkward smile and looks out the window it means they don't want to talk to you! He continued to tell me his life story and about his wife [no ring on his wedding finger by the way! HA!] he also thought he'd fill me in on a really big secret... i'm talking TOP secret, CIA kind of stuff. Are you ready?? He told me... I could get great deals on airline tickets from JetBlue! WOW! AMAZING! My life has been changed forever. I thought for sure he was going to give me the cure for cancer or tell me where Osama Bin Laden has been hiding, really get out of my face! To top it all off, he spit when he talked, so I got a free shower on the bus today, I guess that's included in my monthly link card.
